Glass tempering
Glass tempering
Increased ductility up to 6 times compared to raw float glass, thermal shock and high temperature resistance up to 320C, increased impact resistance, safety from breakage injury. Large tempering dimensions up to 600x300cm.
Tempering process
Tempered glass represents the thermal processing process of glass in order to improve its stability, mechanical properties and safety. Tempering is possible for all types of glass (except reinforced) in thicknesses 4-19mm, in maximum dimensions of pieces 600x300cm. The process takes place on a special production line, under controlled conditions and consists of several stages. Depending on the type, size and thickness, the treated glass is heated to a temperature of about 650 C, to the softening point. The glass then goes into a cooling phase where the temperature drops sharply to 450 C. During this process, the surface of the glass cools faster compared to the inside. With this process, the surface of the glass remains stressed by pressure and the interior by tension. This condition contributes to a significant improvement in the mechanical properties of glass, making it more flexible, impact-resistant and resistant to temperature differences. In the event of breakage, the glass splits into small rounded pieces and thus poses no risk of injury. All necessary glass processing (drilling, cutting, KP-processing) must be carried out before the tempering process. Subsequent processing is not possible due to the surface stresses generated by tempering.
Quality
The KONKAV CONVEX glass tempering line is the latest generation with precise control of heating and cooling of glass. The double convection heating system allows to harden even the most sensitive facade glazing with special coatings. The production control system includes procedures, regular inspections and tests, as described in the EN 12150 standards, as well as in the quality manual including ISO 9001 certification by the TUV Cert certification body.
Dimensions and shapes
Precise heating and cooling control enables tempering of the most rugged shapes and tempering of the most stable glass in thickness from 4 d to 19mm. A large heating chamber and a cooling segment allow tempering of large-sized glass up to 600x300cm.
Application
Due to its safety and excellent mechanical characteristics tempered glass have a wide application such as facades, fences, shower cabins, doors, glass for the auto industry, etc.
